Carlos Arnoldo Salcido Flores is a Mexican defender. He was born on 2 April 1980 in Ocotlán, Mexico.
Salcido started his senior career with Guadalajara where he played from 2001 to 2006. During this period he made more than 100 Liga MX appearances. The fooballer’s outstanding performance during the 2006 FIFA World Cup grabbed the attention of different European clubs. As a result, in the summer 2006 Carlos signed for Dutch side PSV. In the first season he was an ever-present figure for his new club. In the 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 seasons Salcido won the Eredivisie together with PSV. Soon Michael Reiziger left the team, and Carlos took the number three shirt.
In August 2010 the Mexican footballer changed his club moving to Fulham. The transfer fee was priced at ₤1.6 million. A year later Salcido was loaned to Tigres. In 2012 he sealed a permanent deal with this Mexican club.
In 2004 Carlos Salcido was selected for the Mexico national team for the first time. In 2011 the defender won the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Salcido was part of the gold medal winning team at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Moreover, he participated in the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups.
