Cédric Ricardo Alves Soares is a footballer who currently plays for Sporting as a right defender. He was born on 31 August 1991 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
In 1998, Soares started his junior career at the academy of Sporting CP, where he spent 12 years. For that period, he went through all the “ranks” in Sporting’s youth system, making appearances for various teams and taking part in different championships.
In 2010, Cédric took the proposal to sign a professional contract with the club. Hardly had he featured in two matches for the main team, when he was sent to serve loan to Académica. Soares managed to become the squad’s anchor player despite the lack of playing experience at the senior level. He appeared 24 times for the temporary team.
In the summer 2012, he was welcomed back to his parent club, where he continues to make successful appearances.
Since 2006 until 2011, Soares was capped 50 times for the Portugal national youth team at U-17, U-18, U-19 and U-20 levels. In 2011, the player became the member of U-21 national team.
