Cem Can was born on 1 April 1981 in Ankara, Turkey. Since early childhood he has been keen on football. In 1996 he began to perform Tunç Altndağ for youth team. In 1999 he moved to Başkent Edaşspor.
In 2001 Cem Can began his senior career playing for Bugsaşspor. During the season he managed to score 5 goals in 32 total appearances for the club. The 2002/03 season a Turkish midfielder spent at Ankara Demirspor and from 2003 till 2006 he starred for İstanbulspor A.Ş. for which he featured in 76 matches and netted 5 goals. Throughout the 2006/07 season the player represented Sivasspor and in the following season he joined MKE Ankaragücü for which he played until 2009.
In 2009, Cem Can signed a contract with Gençlerbirliği S.K. He was named the team’s captain. In 2013 Can completed a move to Kayseri Erciyesspor.
