Francesc Fàbregas was born on May 4, 1987 in Arenys de Mar which is situated on the Mediterranean coast. CE Mataró became the first football club for Cesc. However, in 1997 he was spotted by FC Barcelona scouts and joined the great Spanish club’s academy. There Fàbregas played in the position of a box-to-box midfielder like Guardiola – his role model – did.
Such future stars as Piqué and Messi played together with Fàbregas. Despite successful displays by Cesc his perspectives in FC Barcelona were uncertain. No one could tell when he should get a chance to appear in the main squad. That is why Arsenal FC head coach, Arsène Wenger, had no difficulties convincing Fàbregas playing for his team would match his own interests. He also promised the footballer would play in the main squad of his new club.
Fàbregas joined the Arsenal FC academy in summer 2003. As a compensation 700 thousand pounds and van Bronkhorst were sent in return. Wenger did not manage to keep his promise at once: the footballer was not prepared to play at such a high level. However, he got a chance to play in the League Cup. He made his debut for Arsenal FC on October 23, 2003 in the match versus Rotherham United FC. At that moment the player became the youngest debutant in the club history.
Later, Francesc Fàbregas scored his first goal playing for the main squad, which happened in the match versus Wolverhampton Wanderers FC won by Arsenal FC 5-1.
Cesc began to make regular appearances in all tournaments for the Arsenal FC main squad in the 2004/05 season. In September 2004, Francesc signed his first professional contract. On December 7 of the same year he scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League. Cesc finished the season with positive emotions having made it to the Arsenal FC starting line-up at the FA Cup final which ended in the favor of Gunners after a penalty shootout.
On August 14, 2011, Arsenal announced Cesc was transferred to Barcelona. Already in August Fàbregas made his debut for the new team in the second leg match of Supercopa de España versus Real Madrid. During three years with the Blau Grana Fabregas played in 151 games, scored 42 goals and provided 48 assists.
In the summer 2014 he moved back to London, this time joining Chelsea.
As a member of the Spain national team Francesc Fàbregas won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Euro twice (in 2008 and 2012).
