A Brazilian footballer Charles Dias de Oliveira performs as a striker for UD Almería. Charles was born on 4 April 1984 in Belém, Pará.
Dias started his junior career at the academy of Santos. Very soon the young striker was noticed by Tuna Luso and, after passing all the preliminary tests, entered the club’s youth department. In 2001, Charles was scouted by Feirense, where the last year of his junior career was spent. The player defended the club’s U-19 team during the 2001/2002 season.
In 2002, Dias became official member of Feirense’s main squad. The young footballer was noticed by the head coach whilst he was performing for the youth team, that’s why Charles started to make appearances for the first team very soon. The striker’s talent helped him to show a good performance during his debut season. The following season turned to be even more fortunate. In total, Dias made 50 appearances and scored 11 goals for Feirense.
In 2004, Charles moved to Pontevedra. Six years of the player’s career passed at the club’s disposal. In 2007, Dias was loaned out to 2 de Mayo. He made 13 appearances and was once lucky to find the net for the temporary side. After coming back to Pontevedra, Charles started to make more frequent appearances than he used to. Whilst being on loan the striker became more self-confident and improved his game. He became the squad’s anchor player amassing 56 goals in 188 matches. In 2010, a two-year deal was agreed with Córdoba. Charles made 66 appearances and racked up 21 goals during the spell. In 2012, a move to Almeria happened.
