Cheick Diabaté is a striker at Bordeaux. He was born on 25 April 1988 in Bamako, Mali.
Cheick’s youth career began at a local football club Centre Salif Keita. Cheick was attending the club’s academy and featured for the club’s youth team. He had been training there up to 2006 until he transferred to Bordeaux being noticed by the scouts.
In 2008 Cheick signed the first professional contract in his life with the French club. Already during the first season, including the youth matches, Cheick played 35 games scoring 18 goals.
Despite his brilliant debut season the club resolved to release the Malian on loan to Ajaccio. In the 2008/09 season Cheick was playing in the club’s first squad; being a good scorer he helped the club to snatch quite a lot of victories and to qualify for the country’s higher division. Cheick appeared in 30 games netting 14 goals.
In 2009 Cheick continued moving over Ligue 1 clubs. That time it was Nancy. There was no position in the first squad for the footballer. So he had to compete with the old club’s players. The head coach felt too much confidence in the former footballers and could not provide Cheick with the necessary amount of playing time. He featured in only 2 matches over one season.
When the loan period was over Cheick turned back to Bordeaux for which was periodically playing in the first team.
In 2005 Cheick was given 3 calls up to the Mali national U-17 team where he scored 2 goals. He was also called up to the Mali national team, for which he played 19 games and netted 9 goals.
