Chen Lei is a defender, born on 16 October 1985 in Bengbu, China.
In 2003 Chen joined the Shanghai Shenhua academy and managed to develop his skills greatly during three years. In 2006 Chen Lei signed his first professional contract with Shanghai Shenhua.
The player didn’t manage to become an undisputed starter of the club so in 2007/2008 season he was loaned to Changchun Yatai. The Chinese quickly became one of the team’s anchor players acting as a defender and defensive midfielder. Chen managed to score two goals during 41 fixtures for the club. In the second part of 2008/2009 season he was loaned to Shenzhen Asia Travel and took part in 13 matches.
In 2011 Chen Lei left Shanghai Shenhua for Shenzhen Ruby and took part in 22 fixtures during 2011/2012 season. From 2012 till the end of 2013 Chen was a Dalian Aerbin player. Then he moved to Chongqing Lifan.
Since 2009 Lei has been capped for China national team.
