Chris Albright is an American defender currently playing for Philadelphia Union. He was born on 14 January 1979 in Philadelphia, the USA.
Chris started out his youth career in 1997 playing as a striker at Virginia Cavaliers. In 1999, he signed his first professional contract with D.C. United scoring only 4 goals in 56 games during a two-year stint. That’s why the club sold Albright to Los Angeles Galaxy in 2002. After two weak seasons as a striker, Albright changed for a defender position where he felt more comfortable. He enjoyed a meteoric rise in the 2005 season leading the club to MLS Cup trophy. For his terrific performances, the footballer was awarded the MLS Best XI title at the end of the season. Overall, he made a total of 140 appearances in all competitions during a five-year stint. In 2008, Albright joined New England Revolution and in 2010 moved to New York Red Bulls. He shortly became the starter for the team and helped the club to win the Eastern Conference that season. In February 2012, the player signed for his hometown Philadelphia Union.
Chris Albright got a first taste of international action playing for the United States U20 team in 1999. In 2000, he earned 6 caps to the U23 squad. Since 1999 to 2007, Albright was capped to the senior American side amassing 22 appearances.
