Chris Basham is a defender, born on 20 July 1988 in Hebburn, England.
Chris spent last years of his youth career in the academy of Newcastle United, but he did not join the main squad of the club, because of interest from Bolton Wanderers in 2006. The new team made a tempting offer, and the footballer decided to accept it the same year. After Basham penned his first professional contract, he went on loan to Stafford Rangers and featured in three games for the club during his spell, which was rather disappointing for the young defender, as he wanted more playing practice.
In 2007, Chris was loaned out once again, this time to Rochdale, where he took part in 13 fixtures during six months. After the end of his temporary spell, the footballer returned to his parent Bolton and started to make occasional starts and sub appearances. Basham featured in 19 matches and netted one goal for the team till 2010, when he was offered to seal a deal with Blackpool. The defender put pen to paper of a new contract in a short term and fired five goals in 91 fixtures for ‘The Seasiders’. In the summer 2014 he switched for Sheffield United.
