Chris Brunt is a midfielder of West Bromwich. He was born on 14 December 1984 in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
In 2002 Chris joined the main team of Middlesbrough and signed a contract, becoming a professional footballer. However, a year and a half passed and he still did not manage to show himself. That was the reason the player was sent on loan to Sheffield Wednesday at the beginning of 2004. Brunt made six appearances and netted two goals for the club during his half-a-year spell.
In the summer 2004, after the footballer’s loan contract expired, Sheffield Wednesday expressed their wish to extend the contract, this time on permanent basis, because the midfielder’s display impressed the head coach. Chris was let on the pitch in the starting XI almost in every match, which, without any doubts, helped him in his development. Brunt took part in 137 matches and amassed 22 goals during three years in the club.
In the summer 2007 English side West Bromwich approached to the final stage of negotiations with the midfielder and was about to sign him. Chris penned a contract by the closing of the transfer window and continues to perform for ‘The Baggies’ up till now. He spent the 2007/2008 season in the starting squad and has never left it, being one of the key midfielders, who found the net 32 times in 171 matches for the club.
From 2002 till 2005, Chris Brunt made 11 appearances and contributed four goals for the Northern Ireland national U-19, U-21 and U-23 teams. From 2004 he has been capped for the full national squad, where took part in 36 games and went on to net one time.
