Chris Herd is a midfielder of Aston Villa. He was born on 4 April 1989 in Perth, Australia.
Chris’s career took off in the academy of ECU Joondalup SC, where he stayed during several years before completing a move to Bayswater City. The young Australian player performed for various youth teams of the new academy, where he gained priceless experience due to frequent coming on the pitch in the starting line-up. In 2005 the footballer drew the attention of English side Aston Villa, which noticed his potential of a centre midfielder.
In 2005 Herd moved to the academy of ‘Villans’ and spent three years there, getting ready to his professional start.
In 2008 the young footballer penned a contract with the club and joined the main team. The same year Chris was sent on loan to Port Vale, where he made 11 appearances and netted two goals. In March 2008, Herd tied up a loan deal with Wycombe Wanderers, where he took part in four games. In the summer 2009, the midfielder went on a season-long loan to Lincoln City and fired four goals in 20 fixtures for the temporary team.
In 2009 Herd was capped two times for the Australia national U-20 team. In 2011 he received his first call-up to the full national squad, but did not come off the substitutes’ bench.
