Chris McCann is a midfielder of Wigan Athletic. He was born on 21 July 1987 in Dublin, Ireland.
Chris began to play football in the academy of Home Farm and performed for the junior squad of the club before completing a move to the youth system of Burnley in 2004. It took the player one year to give the final touch to the preparations for a professional start.
In 2005, McCann penned his first senior five-year contract with ‘The Clarets’ and was given an opportunity to make occasional appearances on the pitch. The midfielder showed impressing performance and managed to clinch a regular place in the starting line-up almost at once. Besides, he helped his new club to gain the promotion to the Premier League in 2009, which dispelled all doubts of his professionalism and usefulness. Chris featured in 238 matches and amassed 27 goals for ‘The Clarets’.
In June 2013 McCann joined Wigan Athletic.
In 2006, the footballer was capped one time for the Republic of Ireland national U-19 squad.
