Christian Eriksen is a Danish football player who was born on 14 February 1992. Eriksen started playing football at the age of 3 in a team of his local town Middelfart. In 2005 he joined Odense Boldklub (OB), competing with the club in the Danish youth championship. At the age of 15 he was scouted by several European clubs and consequently had trials with Barcelona, Milan and Chelsea, yet finally signed a deal with Ajax.
After appearing in Ajax Academy in 2008, Eriksen played in several youth teams, reaching the first squad in January 2010 and making his debut on 17 January. He received high praises from Ajax coach Martin Jol that praised his ability to read the game.
In April 2010 Eriksen signed an extension to his contract. The season 2010/2011 became a breakthrough for the striker when the forward was named “Talent of the year” in Denmark and scored his first goal in a European tournament. The same seasons the player helped Ajax to retain the Eredivisie title. He was consequently named Football Player of the Year in Denmark.
After three years and 162 appearances for Ajax the 21-year old playmaker was lured to Tottenham Hotspur in September 2013.
Eriksen played in all youth national teams, receiving his first national team call-up in February 2010. The forward was a part of the list of 23 players that went to the World Cup 2010, where he played in 2 matches and became the youngest player participating in the tournament.
