Christophe Berra is a centre back of Ipswich Town. He was born on 31 January 1985 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Christophe is a product of Heart of Midlothian academy. On 26 April 2002, the footballer penned his first professional contract with the club and made his first senior appearance in the match against Dundee United on 30 November. Berra took part only in five fixtures during his début season, but he gained the confidence of the head coach, who decided to give the back more playing time in the following year.
Christophe’s first goal for the team came on 15 April 2006 in the game versus Kilmarnock, which ended in a 2-0 victory for Heart of Midlothian and earned them a place in the Champions League qualification round. The same year, the footballer lifted the Scottish Cup, but he failed to come on the pitch in the final match due to an injury. After the end of the season, Berra extended his contract for five years and managed to get a captain’s armband in the 2006/2007 season, which made him the youngest captain of the Scottish Premier League.
In 2009, the back sealed a deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers, which saw him make 141 appearances by the summer 2013 when he completed a move to Ipswich Town.
