Clarence Seedorf is a Dutch veteran midfielder. He was born on 1 April, 1976 in Paramaribo, Suriname.
Clarence’s career started in the youth academy of AFC Ajax. For many years Clarence was one of the academy’s best students due to his strong motivation to make a name for himself in pro football. From an early age, he wanted to play for the best football clubs of the world and eventually he succeeded. In 1992 Clarence was invited to join AFC Ajax’s first team. In the same year he had signed his first professional contract with Ajax and supplemented the club’s roster. Starting his first matches, Clarence was either in the starting lineup, or made frequent appearances as a substitute. Despite his young age, Clarence felt himself comfortable on the field and from 1992 to 1995 played 65 matches for Ajax and scored 11 goals.
In 1995 Clarence attracted the attention of football selectors from various European clubs. No wonder, because Seedorf’s talent and potential were hard to miss during his performance in one of the best football clubs of the Netherlands. U.C. Sampdoria was the first in the race for signing a contract with Seedorf. In 1995 Seedorf signed his second professional contract and joined the club’s first team. During the 1995/96 season Clarence was the key midfielder of Sampdoria. After a successful season in U.C. Sampdoria, Seedorf became number one transfer target for Real Madrid C.F. Clarence fitted the stellar roster of the royal Spanish club perfectly. The transfer price wasn’t disclosed, while the term of the contract was 3 years. During 3 seasons in Real Madrid, Clarence was the club’s key midfielder, ever present in every match, with 121 games and 15 goals.
In 1999 Clarence was acquired by the Italian F.C. Internazionale Milano. Real Madrid profited greatly from transferring the midfielder for 23 million euros. Seedorf had signed a long-term contract with Inter and performed for the club until 2002. The 3 seasons in Inter stalled Clarence a bit, as he played only 64 matches and scored 8 goals.
In 2002 Seedorf signed a contract with A.C. Milan and didn’t even have to move to another stadium, as the two clubs share San Siro. Starting from 2002 Clarence partook in 300 Milan’s matches and scored 62 goals.
In the summer of 2012 the legendary player moved to Brazil for a spell with Botafogo.
In January 2014 Clarence Seedorf replaced Massimiliano Allegri at the helm of his former club AC Milan.
Throughout his career Clarence won a vast number of titles including Netherlands, Spain and Italy championships, and Champions League titles with three different teams.
From 1994 to 2008 Seedorf was a player of the Netherlands national football team. During 14 years he appeared in 87 matches and scored 11 goals.
