Cléo

Cléverson Gabriel Córdova, commonly known as Cléo, was born on 9 August 1985 in Guarapuava, Brazil. The footballer also has Serbian citizenship. The player’s professional career started in Portuguese side Olivais e Moscavide in 2004. Cléo spent one season with this club making 13 appearances and scoring 7 goals.

In 2005 Cléo moved to Atlético Paranaense from Brazil. It was difficult for the young footballer to compete with more experienced members of the team. Besides, he lacked playing time. Soon Cléo was sent on loan to Brazilian club Figueirense where he took part in 2 matches.

In 2006 Cléo returned to Portuguese club Olivais e Moscavide with which he penned a three-year contract. The footballer scored 19 goals in 61 matches for two seasons. But true fame came to the player in Serbia. In 2008 Cléo was farmed out to Serbian club Red Star Belgrade. The player took part in 20 games and kicked 8 goals for a season.

By coincidence, in 2009 Cléo moved to Serbian club Partizan which is the archenemy of Red Star Belgrade. In November Cléo scored a goal in a match against his former club helping Partizan claim a win over Red Star.

Cléo delivered solid performance in the 2009/2010 Serbian SuperLiga. He won the Championship together with his team. The footballer scored 22 goals in 41 matches for half a year and became the fans’ idol. However the biggest success came to the player in the Champions League. Cléo showed impressive performance and became the top goal-scorer of the tournament. The footballer prompted interest from several European clubs. He was offered to join Italian side Genoa as well as Russian clubs Rubin Kazan and Lokomotiv Moscow.

In February 2011 Cléo signed a four-year agreement with Guangzhou Evergrande which plays in the Chinese Super League. On 2 April the player made his debut and scored the winning goal. Now Cléo continues to feature for Guangzhou Evergrande where he has scored 17 goals in more than 35 games.

In 2013 he was loaned to a Japanese side Kashiwa Reysol.
