Craig Bellamy is a retired Welsh footballer, known for his wild character both on the field and outside. Craig gained the reputation of a ‘bad boy’ of the English football.
Bellamy began his professional career in Norwich City, where he made his debut on 15 March 1997 in the match against Arsenal. Later Craig managed to play for the clubs like Newcastle United, Glasgow side Celtic and Blackburn Rovers.
In 2006 the footballer joined Liverpool from Blackburn for £6 million. In 2006/2007 season he made his way through to the Champions League final with the new team and took third place in the English Premier League. Soon the Welsh player left ‘The Reds’ and transferred to London side West Ham for £7.5 million. British media reported that he went away from Liverpool because of some problems with discipline and disagreement with then head coach Rafael Benítez.
In 2009 the Welsh striker moved to Manchester City for £14 million, but the things did not go well in the new club because of the same problems with the coaching staff. That is why on 17 August 2010 Bellamy went on loan to Cardiff City. On 31 August 2011, on the transfer deadline day Graig returned to Liverpool on a free transfer. The Welsh player lifted the Football League Cup after he came back. From 2012 to 2014 Bellamy had another spell with the Welsh club before retiring from professional football.
Bellamy is widely known for a fight with his teammate John Arne Riise in 2007 before the Champions League match between Liverpool and Barcelona. The Welsh footballer had a serious disagreement with the Norwegian back of ‘The Reds’ and tried to hit him with a golf club. Fortunately, other Liverpool players and coaches stepped in that conflict. Later Bellamy kicked a very important goal to ‘Blaugrana’ and celebrated it by imitating golf play, making fun of all that had happened. Ironically, Riise went on to net in that match as well.
