Daniel ‘Dani’ González Benítez is a Spanish midfielder currently playing for Granada CF on loan from Udinese.
When Benítez started playing football he decided to join Mallorca’s youth ranks however he was never included in the first team there. In the 2007/08 season he was sent on loan to Pontevedra in the Segunda B division. Dani spent the following season for Elche.
In the summer of 2009 Benítez signed a contract with an Italian club Udinese and soon after went on loan to Granada. During his second season for the side the player scored 10 goals in 36 games which is the best result in his career. The Andalusian side themselves won their first in 35 years La Liga position but Dani earned 13 yellow cards and 2 red ones due to his own hot temper.
During the 2011/12 season Benítez didn’t manage to score as he started in 26 of 30 games. On May 5, 2012 after a home defeat against Real Madrid the player threw a bottle into the referee Carlos Clos Gómez and earned a three-month dismissal.
