A Portuguese footballer Daniel João Santos Candeias plays as a winger for Nacional. He was born on 25 February 1988 in Fornos de Algodres.
His junior career started at the academy of Fornos Algodres, where he spent two years. In 2002, Daniel entered the youth department of Porto. The footballer spent the last five years of his junior career playing for the club’s youth team.
In 2007, Candeias signed a professional contract with the Lisbon club but was sent on loan to Varzim for the whole 2007/08 season. The season was lined with 2 goals scored in 27 matches. After the spell with the temporary club was finished, the winger was welcomed back to his parent club, where he performed as a substitute player and only few times appeared as a starter. That’s why in January 2009, the player was loaned out to Rio Ave, where he spent the rest of the 2008/2009 season, making 5 appearances.
The following season would find him serving loan at Recreativo. Daniel spent half of the season with the team, making 10 appearances. In January 2010, the next loan followed. That time the footballer played for Paços Ferreira. He scored 1 goal in 13 matches.
In the summer 2010, Candeias signed a permanent deal with Nacional. Daniel was immediately sent on loan to Portimonense, where he managed a fabulous season, making 28 appearances and netting 1 goal for the temporary club. Now the footballer continues to play for Nacional, making occasional appearances as the team’s starter.
Daniel Candeias earned 8 caps to the Portugal U20 team in 2007. In between 2008 and 2010, he was an international for the Portugal U21 squad amassing 15 caps and 1 goal.
