A Portuguese footballer Daniel Filipe Martins Carriço is a central defender, born on 4 August 1988 in Cascais.
In 1997, Daniel started trying his hand at football as a trainee of Estroil. In 1998, after passing all the preliminary tests, he joined Sporting CP, where he studied football in all its minutest details and performed for the youth team until 2007.
In the summer 2007, Daniel was ready to pass to the higher level, so when the management of the club offered him a contract he took the proposal immediately. But hardly had the defender joined the main team when he was loaned out to Olhanense. Over the course of the 2007/2008 season, Carriço didn’t get much playing experience, appearing only 8 times for the temporary club. His next season would find him serving loan at Limassol, where he featured in 14 matches during the spell.
After coming back to his parent club, Daniel found out that the things had changed. The head coach drew his attention to the defender and started to give him more chances to appear on the field. In the 2009/2010 season, the footballer featured in few club’s fixtures as a starter, insinuating himself into coach’s confidence. After some fabulous appearances, Daniel proved to be a very helpful player for the team.
In January 2013 Daniel moved to English Premier League and joined struggling Reading. Half a year later the Portuguese was loaned to Sevilla for 2013/2014 season. After the loan spell Carrico penned a permanent deal with the club.
In 2008, Carriço got his first call for the Portugal national team at U-21 level. In total, he was called up 16 times.
