Daniel Alberto Díaz (aka Cata Díaz) is an Arginine footballer playing for Boca Juniors as a central defender. He was born in 1979 in Catamarca, Argentina, and began his youth playing career at Juventud de Catamarca and went on at Rosario Central. In the latest one he started his professional career. In 2003, he joined Club Deportivo Cruz Azul for a season and then moved to Colón de Santa Fe. Since 2005 the Argentine football player had two seasons at Boca Juniors.
In 2007, Daniel Díaz moved to Spain where he signed with Getafe CF for €4m and helped them to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2007/08 UEFA Cup. He became a core player and in the 2009/10 season the team finished the league sixth and got a chance to qualify for the Europa League. In mid-June Díaz switched to Atlético Madrid signing a two-year deal.
In 2013 Truyols Díaz returned to Argentina to join Boca Juniors.
Díaz represents the national team since 2003 and helped them to finish runner-up at the 2007 Copa América. In June 2009 he netted his first international goal qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, it was a 1-0 win against Colombia.
