A Portuguese footballer Daniel João Alves Faria plays as a central defender for Gil Vicente. He was born on 29 March 1987 in Braga.
His junior career passed in academies of various Portuguese clubs, but the last year Daniel spent at the youth department of Gil Vicente. In 2005, he entered the academy and started playing for the club’s youth team. Within a year the defender got promotion to the higher level.
In 2006, Faria was offered to become the main squad’s member. The footballer took the proposal and penned his first pro contract. He spent the first season as a substitute player, that’s why the club’s management decided to send him on loan.
In the summer 2006, Daniel was loaned out by Valdevez, where he was groomed during the following two years. He made few appearances as a starter of the temporary team. During that time Faria gained priceless playing experience.
In the summer 2008, the defender was welcomed back to his native club. Daniel didn’t clinch into the first eleven, but he made successful appearances as a sub. He continues to play for the team. The defender has already featured in more than 60 club’s fixtures.
