Daniele Portanova is a defender for Genoa. He was born on 17 December 1978 in Rome, Italy.
Daniele’s professional career started at Fermana youth academy. Daniele signed for his alma mater in 1996. For 2 years at Fermana Portanova made only 20 appearances and scored 1 goal.
In 1998 Daniele Portanova joined Genoa on a 1-year contract and made 6 appearances by 1999.
In 1999 Portanova moved to Avellino. The 1999/00 season was not particularly lucky for the young defender, as he had to withstand fierce competition. He made a total of only 9 appearances. In 2000 Daniele signed for Messina and played for the club during 3 seasons, totaling 85 matches and 5 goals.
In 2003 Daniele Portanova moved to Napoli and featured in 31 matches in the 2003/04 season.
In 2004 Portanova signed for Siena. By 2009 Daniele made a total of 158 appearances and scored 8 goals for Siena.
Many European clubs offered Siena to purchase the talented defender. In 2008 FC Zenit Saint Petersburg wanted to purchase Portanova from Siena but the clubs failed to come to terms.
Daniele Portanova admitted that he always wanted to play for Lazio.
In 2009 Daniele signed for Bologna, where he made a total of 103 appearances and scored 6 goals. Later on in 2013 he signed for Genoa.
