Danilo Luiz da Silva is a defender of Porto. He was born on 15 July 1991 in Bicas, Brazil.
Danilo is a product América Mineiro´s youth system. He spent two final years of his youth career at the academy of this club preparing to make a start in the professional football. In 2009 Danilo signed the first professional contract in his career with América Mineiro. During the 2009/2010 season he was an ever-present figure for this club scoring 4 goals in 37 matches.
Danilo’s solid performance prompted interest from the prestigious Brazilian club Santos. The parties reached an agreement quickly and in the summer 2010 the defender penned the second contract in his professional career. Danilo immediately got into the starting eleven in his first match for Santos when he delivered impressive performance. In the following matches he also appeared in the starting line-up. During a year and a half Danilo Luiz da Silva played 80 games for Santos overall scoring 10 goals.
At the end of 2011 the young talent drew the attention of Porto. The Portuguese club entered into the negotiations for Danilo’s transfer. Soon the clubs reached an agreement and Porto acquired 100 percent of Danilo’s economic rights paying €13 million for the defender who continues to play for this Portuguese side until now.
In 2011 Danilo Luiz da Silva made 15 appearances for the Brazil U-20 national team kicking 2 goals. Since 2011 he has gained more than 5 caps for the Brazil national football team.
