Danko Lazović is a striker, born on 17 May 1983 in Kragujevac, Serbia.
Danko’s career took off in Radnički Kragujevac, located in his native town. Before moving to Feyenoord in the summer 2003, Lazović managed to perform for Serbian side Partizan. The footballer did not manage to clinch a place in the main team of the Dutch side club, which decided to send him on loan to Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The things did not go well in the temporary team and in January 2006 the striker completed a move on a six-month loan to Partizan.
Danko made an encouraging start by netting five goals in 11 fixtures for the club. After the end of the 2005/2006 season, the footballer was involved into a fight with his teammate Niša Saveljić.
In the summer 2006, Lazović returned to Eredivisie by sealing a deal with Vitesse worth €1.5 million. Besides, his previous club, Feyenoord, had to pay his salary during one year. Danko showed stellar performance during the season and was nominated for the Eredivisie golden boot award, which is given to the top goalscorer of the league.
PSV took an interest in the striker and secured his services on a five-year deal worth €6.6 million after the end of the season. In 2008 Lazović had several conflicts with then head coach Huub Stevens, which became a reason of the player’s move to the reserve team. However, Danko adduced an excuse and the conflict was over.
In March 2010, Lazović entered into negotiations with Zenit St. Petersburg concerning his transfer. The head coach insisted on the Serbian player’s move and Danko sealed a four-year deal with the new club on 3 March 2010. The footballer’s début for the team came on 13 March in the game against Krylia Sovetov Samara. On 25 April the same year, the striker suffered a thigh muscle rupture, which kept him out of action during one month.
During his first season in Russia, Lazović featured in 30 games, amassed ten goals and made ten assists. Danko is also the author of Zenit’s 700th goal in the Russian Premier League. In January 2013 he was sent on loan to Rostov.
One year later he returned to Serbia joining Partizan Belgrade.
