Darío Cvitanich is an Argentine-Croatian striker who currently represents Nice. He was born on May 16, 1984 in Baradero, Argentina.
Darío started his playing career in 2001 in Club Atlético Banfield. He played for the junior squad for 2 years before being promoted to the senior squad, making his debut in the match against Olimpo de Bahía Blanca. Unfortunately, Olimpo won 3-1. Cvitanich clinched his first goal in the domestic match against Colón de Santa Fe on September 17, 2005. Banfield gained a 2-0 victory that day. In the 2006/2007 season Cvitanich joined the first team to participate in the 2007 Copa Libertadores. He netted 2 goals during the tournament. Next season Darío made his mark in the Primera División: he scored 19 goals in 30 matches, which made him the top scorer of the year.
In 2007 Darío penned a four-year deal with Ajax. He played his first match for Ajax against NAC Breda on December 12, 2008. His team celebrated a stunning 3-0 victory over the rivals.
In 2010 Ajax loaned Cvitanich to C.F. Pachuca. In April 2010 he helped Pachuca to win the CONCACAF Champions League. He made 18 appearances and netted 10 goals during that season.
On January 1, 2011 Cvitanich moved to Pachuca for a second spell. Shortly after that, he was loaned to Boca Juniors for a year. Darío managed to score 9 goals in 27 games.
In August 2012 he was transferred to Nice.
