Dario Krešić was born on January 11, 1984 in Vukovar, SFR Yugoslavia.
In 1995, Dario started playing football with the Mladost Buzin youth academy, which he left a few months later to join the youth ranks of FC Hrvatski Dragovoljac. In 2001, Dario was scouted for VfB Stuttgart II but he spent only one season with this squad as in 2002 he signed his first senior contract with SV Eintracht Trier 05.
In 2006, the keeper left for Greece where he became a part of Panionios and spent the following 3 seasons with this team. In the season 2007/08 Krešić was awarded the first-number keeper’s position he held to the end of his Panionios career.
In 2009, Krešić transferred to PAOK and made his first appearance on July 28, 2010. Then Kostas Chalkias’s injury developed into Dario’s coming on in the 20th minute of the match and proving his capability to be the first-choice goalkeeper of the squad. He had remained the main keeper till 2012 when he sensed that the management didn’t rely on him as a main keeper anymore and expressed the intention to leave the club. In July 2012, the player signed a two-year contract with Lokomotiv Moscow. Dario’s debut for the new team occurred in the Russian Premier League match against Alania Vladikavkaz on August 11, 2012.
In January 2014 the goalkeeper signed a contract with a German side Mainz 05. At the end of the season he switched for Bayer Leverkusen.
In the period from 2000 to 2003 Dario Krešić sequentially got caps for every of the Croatia junior national football teams, beginning with the U-15 squad and in 2004 the keeper was called up to the Croatia U-21 national squad.
