Dario Srna is a Croatian footballer, who plays as a defender for FC Shakhtar Donetsk, and the national team of Croatia. He was born on 1 May 1982 in Metković, Yugoslavia.
Dario is a product of Neretva youth system. He joined the youth team of the club at the age of 12. At the age of 14 he was called up to the national youth team. After that Dario was invited to Hajduk Split and Dinamo Zagreb.
Aged 16, Srna signed a permanent deal with Hajduk Split, where he initially performed for the youth team, and then got into the senior squad. Two years later Dario became the champion of Croatia. Srna scored a total of 4 goals in 63 appearances for Hajduk Split.
Then in 2003 the winger moved to Ukrainian Shakhtar Donetsk. The defender made his first appearance for the club on 12 July 2003, and played his debut UEFA match on 24 August 2003.
Dario Srna is a holder of numerous awards. He is the Croatian League and Croatian Cup winner, sixfold champion of Ukrainian Premier League, fourfold winner of Ukrainian Cup and many others. Croatian footballer was also named Best Ukrainian Premier League Player in the 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons.
Dario began performing for Croatia in November 2002, later he was expelled, but on 22 September, 2006 he rejoined the national team once again.
