Darnel Situ was born on 18 March 1992 in Rouen, France. His career took off in the academy of French side Saint-Étienne du Rouvray in 1999.
In 2003 Darnel continued training in the academy of Lens, where he became a regular and a captain of the U-16 squad. In February 2009 Situ penned his first senior contract with ‘Les Sang et Or’ for three years. Despite the footballer had just turned 17, he was included in the main team of the club, but did not have a number. Soon Darnel made his début for Lens, coming on as a substitute in the 64th minute of the match against AFC Compiègne.
In August 2011 Situ agreed a two-year contract with Welsh side Swansea City. Several weeks later, FIFA said it would not grant international clearance for the defender. That is why he first penned a loan deal, and only in January 2012 managed to join the club on permanent basis. In 2014 Situ was released from the club.
In 2007 Darnel was called up to the France national U-16 team, made 11 appearances and chipped in two goals. The following year he moved to the U-17 squad, took part in 17 games and fired three goals.
In 2009/2010 Situ was capped nine times for the U-18 team. In 2011 he eventually joined the U-19 squad and made 12 appearances for it.
It is rather obvious Darnel possesses leadership qualities as he was a skipper of several France youth teams, including U-16, U-17 and U-18.
