David Cobeño is a Spanish goalkeeper who currently plays for Rayo Vallecano.
His youth career started at Rayo Vallecano in 1997. In 2000, David was promoted to the first team of the club where he played for the reserves during two seasons. He spent the 2004/05 season playing for a Segunda B side Poferradina. In 2003, the scouts of Real Madrid noticed the footballer´s talent and invited him to play for their C team. After two seasons at Real Madrid C, Cobeño spent the 2005/06 season with the B team in the Segunda.
At the time when Cobeño performed for the ‘Blancos’ his talent attracted attention of other clubs among which was the recent winner of La Liga - Sevilla. David became second choice after Andreas Palop. In 2006 Cobeño managed to win the UEFA Super Cup trophy. After Palop was heavily injured in a game against Celta, Cobeño was the one who substituted the keeper. After that he played 5 games in the league and 3 games in the UEFA Cup.
In the next season David was loaned to a newly-promoted Almería. He started the 2007/08 season for the new club as the first-choice but in the end he had to give up the place in the starting eleven to a Brazilian Diego Alves. This made Cobeño prefer playing for Rayo Vallecano in the second division.
