David Ducourtioux

David Ducourtioux plays in the defender role for Valenciennes FC. He was born on 11 April 1978 in the city of Limoges, France.

The player’s youth career began from Toulouse football academy where he studied for four years and also performed for the youth team. In 1997 a young player went through a tryout at SC Bastia. After excelling play at that exhibition match Ducourtioux was offered to study at Bastia football academy. So he switched to the new club.

David’s senior career started in 1997 when he signed a professional contract with Bastia keeping him at the club until 2000. Over a period of two seasons he seldom played in the major squad and twice appeared in the starting lineup.

In the year 2000 the defender was given the option to change the state of things. He received a call up from Stade Reims that offered him a place in the major squad. Ducourtioux was glad to the given opportunity and in the summer of the same year agreed to a contract according to which he represented the club until 2002. In two years he made 63 total appearances for the club.

The year 2002 turned out one of the most successful periods in the player’s career. He accepted the offer from CS Sedan with which he signed a lasting contract until 2007. He netted 9 goals in 155 appearances with the club.

The 2006/07 season was very productive for Valenciennes as it managed to gain the Ligue 1 title. At that time the club’s management was looking for a defender who could represent the club at a higher level. David was spotted by the scouts from Valenciennes who eventually decided to acquire the player. In 2007 Ducourtioux signed a contract with the club to which he is now tied. The defender has participated in 127 matches and scored 5 goals so far.
