David Edgar is a defender, born on 19 May 1987 in Kitchener, Canada.
In 2001, David was admitted to the academy of Newcastle United, where he began to perform for the junior squad. It took the footballer four years to get ready for a professional start, as he penned his first senior contract and joined the main team of ‘The Magpies’ in 2005.
Edgar had to face high competition for a place in the starting line-up, but he tried to clinch a regular spot by taking his level to the level of his more experienced and football-wise teammates during trainings. However, that was not very helpful, and the defender netted two goals in 19 fixtures for Newcastle United during four seasons.
In the summer 2009, David sealed a deal with Burnley and spent six months with the club before being sent on loan to Swansea City, where he fired one goal in five matches during the second half of the 2009/2010 season. After returning to his parent team, the footballer took his tally to four goals in 114 games for ‘The Clarets’.
In the summer 2014 Edgar moved to Birmingham City.
From 2003 till 2008, Edgar made 26 appearances and found the net two times for the Canada national U-17 and U-20 squads. From 2011, the defender has been capped 15 times and contributed one goal for the senior national team.
