David Meyler is a midfielder of Hull City. He was born on 29 May 1989 in Cork, Ireland.
When a child, David joined the academy of local Cork City, where he spent a lot of time to gain experience and raise his professional level. The footballer performed for various youth teams of the club and participated in the junior championship during many years as well. By 2008, Meyler passed several special tests in the youth system and proved to be ready for the professional start in the main team of the club.
In 2008 David penned a senior contract with Cork City, but managed to make only six appearances for it. The same year English side Sunderland sent a request concerning the footballer’s availability. The club lodged a tempting bid for the midfielder and Cork City decided to sell Meyler. In the summer 2008, David completed a move to Sunderland and played till the season 2012/2013 when he moved to Hull City on loan. In January 2013 he signed a permanent deal with Championship side.
From 2009, Meyler was capped seven times for the Republic of Ireland national U-21 squad. In 2012, he received his first call-up to the senior national team.
