David Nugent is a striker of Leicester City. He was born on 2 May 1985 in Huyton, England.
In 2002, David graduated from the academy of Bury to the main team of the club and started his professional career. The footballer penned his first senior three-year contract and began to gain priceless performing experience. Nugent found the net 18 times in 90 fixtures for Bury during his spell, which made him a tempting transfer target for various English teams.
In 2005, the striker completed a move to Preston North End and spent two years with the new club. David adapted to the head coach’s methods really soon and managed to improve his results, as he amassed 35 goals in 93 matches for ‘The Lilywhites’ during his spell.
In 2007, the footballer transferred to then Premier League side Portsmouth. That was a qualitatively new level for Nugent, but he adjusted to it and showed decent performance. After two years of making occasional appearances, the striker went on loan to Burnley and netted six goals in 30 games for the temporary team during his spell. David returned to his parent ‘Pompey’ and spent one more year with the club, which saw him score 16 times in 75 fixtures from 2007 till 2011.
In 2011, Leicester City lodged a bid for the footballer and secured his services in the summer the same year. Nugent managed to become the pivot of the team at once and fired 15 goals in 42 matches for ‘The Foxes’ during the 2011/2012 season.
From 2005 till 2007, the striker was capped 14 times and contributed four goals for the England national U-21 squad. In 2007, David took part in one fixture and kicked one goal for the senior national team.
