David Vaughan is a midfielder of Sunderland. He was born on 18 February 1983 in Abergele, Wales.
In 2000 David graduated to the main team of local Crewe Alexandra and started his senior career. The footballer penned a contract and performed for the club during seven years. At first, the midfielder made occasional appearances, because he was not fully prepared for the matches at such level. However, in the course of time, Vaughan’s performance became more and more confident and his results spoke for themselves. The head coach could use the footballer in various tactical formations, because David was able to operate both in the centre and on the flanks, which helped him to become one of the anchor players of the squad. From 2000 till 2007, Vaughan featured in 185 matches and found the net 18 times for Crewe Alexandra.
In 2007 the footballer moved to Spanish side Real Sociedad, where he took part in eight games and netted one goal during one season. Being extremely disappointed at the time he wasted in Spain, David decided to leave the country and transfer to English side Blackpool, which offered Vaughan a lucrative contract. In the summer 2008, the midfielder put pen to paper and officially became a player of the new club, where he spent three years. Those years were really fruitful for the footballer, because the head coach let him on the field almost in every match, which gave David additional self-confidence. He made 105 appearances and kicked four goals during his spell with Blackpool.
In the summer 2011, the player finalized a move to Sunderland, where he continues to perform up till now. Vaughan was given a place in the starting line-up and kept that place throughout the entire season. The footballer managed to justify the head coach’s trust and supported the club on its way to the Premier League.
From 2002 till 2005, David was capped ten times and chipped in four goals for the Wales national U-19 and U-21 squads. From 2003, he took part in 30 games and contributed one goal for the full national team.
