Deividas Šemberas is a center back for Alania Vladikavkaz. He was born on 2 August 1978 in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Deividas’ youth career started at the football academy of local Žalgiris, where he played until 1995. In 1995 Deividas signed a professional contract with Žalgiris, and represented the club for two seasons. In the 1997/98 season he played 25 matches and scored 3 goals for his alma mater.
In 1998 the Lithuanian defender went to Russia, after signing a contract with Dynamo Moscow. Šemberas established himself as a mainstay at the White-blues and was a key defender for three seasons (from 1998 to 2001), totaling 88 matches and 2 goals. By the end of 2001 Deividas completed negotiations with CSKA Moscow, and in January 2002 became an official player of the club. During a ten-year stint at CSKA the Lithuanian footballer was one of the key players of the first team, making over 250 appearances. In 2012 he moved to Alania Vladikavkaz.
Since 1996 Deividas Šemberas plays for the national team of Lithuania, with more than 80 international caps.
Šemberas is a three-time champion of Russia (2003, 2005, 2006), fourfold silver medalist (2002, 2004, 2008, 2010) and twofold bronze medalist (2007, 2012). In addition, he is six-time holder of the Russian Cup, four-time holder of the Russian Super Cup (2004, 2006, 2007, 2009) and one-time holder of the UEFA Cup (2004/05).
In 2005 Deividas was voted Player of the Year in Lithuania.
