Dennis Aogo is a German international of Nigerian origin who is under contract with Hamburg. He operates at left-back but can also play in midfield.
In his teenage years Aogo played with Bulacher SC, Karlsruher SC and Waldhof Mannheim. In 2002 he moved to the SC Freiburg academy. Soon he celebrated his Bundesliga debut. During his three seasons in SC Freiburg Dennis made 94 starts and found the net 11 times.
In 2008 he made a personal promotion to Germany’s top-flight club HSV. The debut in his new team dates back to October 26, when he came as a substitute in a match against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. During 2008/09 campaign Dennis established himself as a first-team regular. After five years with the club Aogo was loaned to Schalke 04.
Having Nigerian origin, Aogo could represent both Germany and Nigeria but he opted for the Bundesteam. In 2010 he was called into the senior German squad for a qualifier against Malta. Later that year Aogo was included into the final squad for the 2010 World Cup.
