Didier Drogba. Biography
Didier Drogba (born 11 March 1978) is an Ivorian football player and the national team captain.
Drogba began his career in Levallois, then joined Le Mans, but signed his first professional contract with Guingamp. His first cap came in 2002 against South Africa.
In 2003 Drogba joined Olympique de Marseille and in 2004 Chelsea bought him for €38 million which made him the most high-priced player from Côte d'Ivoire in history. Drogba kicked 16 goals in 40 matches for Chelsea during his first season.
March 2012, Didier contributed his hundredth goal in Premier League during the game against Stoke City and secured a victory for his club. Drogba was the best Chelsea foreign goalscorer and the only footballer from Africa who managed to net 100 goals in the Premier League.
After the triumph in the Champions League Didier joined former Chelsea player Nicolas Anelka in Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua.
Half a year later there appeared to be a gossip of unpaid wages and Drogba left the club to join Turkish giant Galatasaray.
In the summer 2014 Drogba returned to Chelsea, reuniting with his beloved manager Jose Mourinho.
The honours of Didier Drogba are the following: the FA Cup in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012; the Football League Cup in 2005, 2007; the FA Community Shield in 2005, 2009; the Premier League Winner in 2005, 2006, 2010, the Champions League Winner in 2012.
Since 2022 Drogba has been the key part of The Ivory Coast national team.
