Diego Arismendi is a midfielder of Nacional Montevideo. He was born on 25 January 1988 in Montevideo, Uruguay.
In 2006 Diego joined the main team of Club Nacional after having graduated from the academy of the club. During first three years of his professional career, the midfielder often came on the pitch in the matches of ‘Bolsilludo’, where he perfected his skills and gained priceless experience. By 2009 Arismendi made 55 appearances for the Uruguayan club and ended his performance for it the same year.
By that time, Diego was a solid and skilled player, who possessed outstanding vision of the field, which is essential for any midfielder. English side Stoke City noticed all that positive qualities and lodged a bid for the footballer. The parties soon came to an agreement concerning the terms of contract and Arismendi officially transferred to the club in the summer 2009.
Diego spent six months with the new team and went on a half-a-year loan to Brighton & Hove Albion, where he featured in six games. In the summer 2010, the footballer was sent on another loan, this time to Barnsley, where the Uruguayan midfielder found the net on time in 31 matches during one season. In January 2012, the midfielder sealed a six-month loan deal with Huddersfield Town and took part in nine games of the temporary club. In 2013 Diego was released from the Potters and joined Nacional Montevideo.
In 2008 Arismendi was capped two times for the Uruguay national team.
