Diego Castro Giménez is a Getafe left midfielder who was born in a Spanish town of Pontevedra. He decided to devote his life to football as well as his father who managed a whole bunch of Spanish and Portuguese clubs throughout his career.
The start of Diego’s career took place in his hometown club named also Pontevedra and he played there two seasons until he was offered to join Málaga B in 2003. There his career went up as he played 90 games for three seasons and scored two goals thus earning a main squad promotion.
However his play for the main squad wasn’t good enough for the manager to trust him more than two league appearances, both in lost games to Osasuna (1-2) and Real Madrid (0-2).
The player couldn’t put up with such state of things and in 2006 moved to Sporting de Gijon in search for a better future. He found it there having spent five marvelous seasons for the side with 170 La Liga appearances and 39 goals scored.
Castro accomplished a move to Getafe in 2011 as a free agent and made 31 appearances with 7 goals in his very first season for the Madrid side.
