Diego Armando Contento is a German footballer of Italian origin. He was born in Munich. Diego is a left back of Bayern Munich.
Since the age of five, Contento attended Bayern Munich football academy. When 18, he was invited to the second team as a defender. For two years Diego played for the reserve team, and on 13 January 2010 he was offered to sign a professional contract with Bayern Munich first team.
Diego made his debut appearance for Bayern Munich in a match versus Red Bull Salzburg, coming on as a substitute on the 58th minute. He was soon named in the club’s first squad to play versus SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the DFB-Pokal. Contento appeared on the pitch a few times in the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League group stage and was promoted to the starting line-up in the 2011/12 final of the same tournament. Bayern lost to Chelsea on penalties.
On 27 May 2010 Contento extended his contract with Bayern until 2013.
Since the age of 17 the player has been a left fullback of Germany U-17 and Germany U-20 squads.
Contento’s full name is Diego Armando. He was named after a famous Argentine striker – Diego Armando Maradona.
