A Chilean footballer Diego Iván Rubio Köstner plays for Sporting CP as a striker. He was born on 15 May 1993 in Santiago.
In 2005, Rubio started trying his hand at football at the academy of Universidad Católica. Together with the club’s youth team the striker took part in junior championships. In 2007, Diego passed preliminary tests and became a trainee of Colo-Colo, where he spent the last three years of his junior career.
In the summer 2010, Rubio signed his first contract with Colo-Colo. Unfortunately the striker didn’t manage to become the head coach’s first choice. Over the course of the season he made only 8 appearances and scored three goals for the reserves.
In 2011, the scouts from Sporting CP got interested in the Chilean player. After signing a five-year contract Diego became an official member of the club.
In the season 2013/2014 Rubio was loaned to a Romanian outfit Pandurii Targu Jiu.
In 2011 Rubio featured in three matches for the Chile national team.
