Brazilian footballer Diego Ribas da Cunha, commonly known as Diego, is an attacking midfielder.
Diego started his football career by signing a contract with Santos FC at the age of 12. He made his first team debut in the Campeonato Brasileiro at the age of 16 where in the same year his club succeeded in taking the title.
In 2004 Diego was signed by FC Porto to make up for the loss of FC Barcelona-bound Deco. During his first season, Diego was a regular in Porto’s first team, but after another coach took charge in the 2005/06 season, he was mostly warming the bench. That fact couldn’t satisfy a promising young footballer, so by the end of the season he decided to leave the club.
In May 2006 Ribas da Cunha signed a four-year contract with SV Werder Bremen in Germany. His first match for the club came in the German League Cup final.
In the 2009/10 campaign Diego played for Juventus FC having signed a five-year contract with the club, but soon got in trouble with the management of Juve and left the club for VfL Wolfsburg.
Diego signed a four-year contract with VfL Wolfsburg playing for the club in the 2010/11 season. Still, he was loaned to Atlético Madrid for the 2011/12 season and later penned a permanent deal with a giant Spanish club and won La Liga title in 2014. After that he moved to Fenerbahce.
