Djamal Mahamat is a midfielder of Braga. He was born on 26 April 1983 in Tripoli, Libya.
In 2001 Mahamat began his senior career with Salgueiros where the footballer spent two years. During his spell with this club he failed to come on the pitch because the head coach had a wide variety of more experienced professional footballers. When in the summer 2003 Mahamat got the opportunity to change the club he did it immediately because he wanted to become a regular first team player.
In 2003 Djamal signed a contract with Stade Montois, where he played in the 2003/2004 season. During this time he made 22 appearances.
In 2004 the midfielder sealed a deal with the French side Bayonne where he featured in 33 matches and scored 4 goals in the 2004/2005 season. In the summer 2005 Mahamat moved to the French club L’Entente where he also spent a season. The head coach of his temporary team included Djamal in the starting XI during the whole season giving him an opportunity to feature in 31 games.
In the summer 2006 Mahamat joined Estoril where he played 24 games for a season. In the summer 2007 he returned to L’Entente. Despite his impressive performances for this club in the past Djamal didn’t earn a place in the starting eleven during the season.
In the summer 2008 Mahamat moved to Portugal where he penned a contract with Beira-Mar. During three years he was one of the key midfielders. Sometimes Djamal conceded his position to other players who wanted to show their worth. During his three-year spell with Beira-Mar, Mahamat scored 4 goals in 68 matches. In the summer 2011 he changed his club moving to Braga where he started to play successfully from the beginning of the 2011/2012 season.
In 2010 Djamal Mahamat won his first senior cap for the Libya national football team.
