Djamel Bakar is a French forward of Comorian origin who represents Montpellier. He was born on 6 April 1989 in Marseille, France.
Djamel began his youth career at AS Monaco football academy in 2004. Bakar played for the juniors of Monaco until 2007, when he penned his first professional contract with the club. On 6 January 2008 Djamel netted three goals for Monaco in the Coupe de France match against Stade Brestois 29. During his 2007–2009 stay at Monaco Bakar made 29 appearances and scored 1 goal.
On 31 August 2009 Bakar was transferred to AS Nancy for a £2.2 million fee. Since 2009 Djamel featured in more than 100 matches and scored 13 goals, being a regular player in the starting lineup. In 2013, when his club was relegated from Ligue 1, Bakar accepted the invitation of Montpellier.
From 2007 to 2008 Djamel won 5 international caps and scored 1 goal for the France U19 team. He also netted 2 goals in 8 matches for the France U21 squad from 2009 to 2010.
