Dmitri Torbinski was born on April 28, 1984 in Norilsk, Soviet Union. He was awarded the Merited Master of Sport of Russia rank in 2008.
Dmitri started as a futsal player in his native Norilsk but soon he decided to take up football and at the age of 12 left for Moscow to join the FC Spartak Moscow youth academy. After representing the reserve side for several seasons in 2002 the player finally made his debut for the first team. In 2003, the midfielder already got his own regular starting spot but a severe injury prevented him from playing the whole season on the high level.
In 2005, Torbinski moved to FC Spartak Chelyabinsk on loan in order to get more game practice. In half a year Dmitri returned to Spartak but still was not able to become the part of the first team and represented the reserve side of the club.
In January 2008, the midfielder left for Lokomotiv Moscow on free transfer and in March 2011, he prolonged the agreement till 2013. Having played more than a hundred matches for the club Torbinski switched for Rubin Kazan in the summer 2013. One year later Torbinski joined Rostov.
As for the player’s international experience, on March 2007, Dmitri Torbinski made his debut for the Russia national football team in the match against the Estonia national squad. In 2008, the footballer was called up to the national team for the UEFA Euro 2008 campaign, where he scored one goal. It occurred in the quarter-finals match against the Netherlands; then Dmitri came on in extra-time and his well-placed left shot put Russia ahead and turned out to be a great help to Dmitri’s national team’s reaching the semi-final leg of the tournament.
