Douglas Franco Teixeira is a defender of Dynamo Moscow. He was born on 12 January 1988 in Florianópolis, Brazil.
Douglas’s career took off in Joinville, where he was noticed by Dutch side Twente scouts. After moving to the Netherlands, Teixeira passed a short course of training and joined the main team of the club. On 24 September 2007, the footballer penned a long-term contract with Twente, where he continues to perform at the position of a central defender up till now and wears number 19 shirt. However, the defender rejected all offers and extended his contract with Twente till 31 June 2013.
On 28 February 2011, Teixeira got a six-game ban for hitting AZ midfielder. After his disqualification was over, the footballer lifted the Johan Cruijff Shield and the KNVB Cup. The defender made 162 appearances and amassed 15 goals for Twente during his spell.
In the summer 2013 he switched for a Russian side Dynamo Moscow.
Douglas had never played for Brazil and announced he would try to get Dutch citizenship in order to perform for the Netherlands national team. On 2 November 2011, the player received a Dutch passport.
