Having appeared in 30 games for the side in the 2005/06 season, the Serbian striker was loaned to a fellow first-division club Zulte Waregem.

Mrđa spent two prolific seasons with the club amassing 35 goals in 56 matches. It was due to his strong performances at Vojvodina that Mrđa earned his first international cap to the Serbia national team. In the summer 2010, the player moved to the Swiss side Sion.
However, that spell was not a successfull one and in 2013 the Serbian joined Red Star Belgrade.
In between 2003 and 2007, Dragan Mrđa was a part of the Serbia U21 team amassing 4 goals in 8 international matches. Since 2008, he is capped to the senior Serbian side.
