Du Wei is a Chinese defender currently playing for Shandong Luneng in the Chinese Super league. He was born on 9 February 1982 in Luoyang, China.
Du Wei began his professional career at a lower-league team Shanghai Cable 02 in 2000. In two years the club merged with Shanghai Shenhua and got into the top flight. Du Wei established himself as a pillar of the newly formed team as he helped them to win the Chinese championship in 2003. Overall, he made a total of 139 league appearances for the club since 2002 till 2010. In between 2010 and 2012, the centre back played for Hangzhou Greentown. He got a first taste of AFC Champions League action while his stint at the club. In the summer 2012, Du Wei signed for Shandong Luneng and plays there today.
Du Wei is capped to the China national team since 2001. He was an instrumental part of the squad who won the East Asian Football Championship in 2010.
