Eidur Gudjohnsen was born on 15 September 1978 in the capital of Iceland, Reykjavík. His father is one of the most renowned Icelandic footballers.
Gudjohnsen began his football career at the hometown club Valur Reykjavík. Then Eidur had a lengthy string of spells at various European clubs: PSV, KR Reykjavík, Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea, Barcelona, Monaco, Tottenham Hotspur, Stoke City and Fulham.
The Icelander’s most memorable play was in Chelsea, where he spent 6 seasons and became known throughout Europe due to the outstanding results. Gudjohnsen won a number of trophies with the Blues: 2 English Super Cups, 2 Premier League trophies, and the Football League Cup. The record for most trophies was interrupted only by the performance for "Barcelona". With the club Eidur won La Liga, the European Super Cup, the Copa del Rey, the Supercopa de España and the Champions League.
In 2011 the striker agreed to a 2-year contract with AEK Athens. In October 2012, Gudjohnsen moved to Jupiler Pro League side Cercle Brugge. Just a couple of months later he switched across the city to join Club Brugge.
Eidur Gudjohnsen is the Iceland international with 68 caps and 24 goals so far.
